The goal of the SAE Baja project is to design and build an offroad vehicle to compete in the 2020 SAE Baja Arizona competition. It must be able to perform well in each of the dynamic and static events. It must also abide by all SAE rules and regulations for the 2020 competition. The SAE Baja competition runs static and dynamic events to test the team and their vehicle. The static events include a technical inspection, cost report, design judging, and a sales presentation. The dynamic events are an acceleration event, hillclimb event, endurance race, and specialty events. Northern Arizona University sponsors a team of mechanical engineers through the SAE club on campus to compete in the SAE Baja competition as their capstone project each year. This year the competition NAU is competing in will be located in Tuscon, Arizona, from April 16th to April 19th. (Update: Due to the recent pandemic, this years team was unable to finish fabrication of the vehichle and did not participate in the SAE competition. 5/4/2020)
